OK so my droid is box stock just a few app that I added. Finally got the 2.2 update when I went to my wireless settings I have a button that's marked tethering. Went to the verizion store to get the wife a droid 2, Showed it to the sales girl and her comment was that's not supposed to be there. What gives? I find it hard to believe that only my phone has this. I appears to work but I left my laptop at work so I have to wait till tomorrow to try it out.

yeah, the reps are pretty much clueless. When you try to use it, it directs you to the page listing mobile broadband connect plans and won't let you do anything else. Some people have called Verizon CS to add MBC after being redirected and were told it wasn't available.

I think it's a screw up on Verizon's end in not having Moto pull it from the build before compile. The OG isn't supposed to have Tethering built in because "it isn't capable." I'm guessing VZW plans on adding in the billing later.

If you root and download Wireless tether, it works like a dream. I've used it plenty of times to show the iTards out there what a real phone can do.

Mobile Broadband is usually an additional data package, and charge.

The D1 has never been 'officially' supported for tethering, but apps like pdanet will allow you to do so.

Data usage while tethered will be seen as handset data usage (thus since VZW cannot 'see' it as tethered data, VZW cannot bill you overage for it, thus no reason for VZW to support it (officially).
