Text alerts stopped working in my Honda

Since around the time of the September Android rollout, I have stopped receiving "pop up" notifications on my Honda display, of incoming SMS text messages, although the car's notification settings are set for this to happen.

I do receive notifications when the phone is plugged into the car with Android Auto in use. Just not otherwise.

How do I fix this? Or is it a Honda problem and not a Pixel problem?

I have a 2013 Toyota Highlander and get a pop up notification, but the software in my car doesn't run Android auto. Have you tried re-synching your phone to your car to see if that helps?

I apologize for the slow response.

Answer to your question is that yes, I did rescynch - deleted phone then re-paired it - and that didn't work.

Had my car in the shop yesterday for routine maintenance and they tried and couldn't fix the problem. Said it was probably OS-related, and Honda corporate had advised them that they're not there to fix Android problems.

I'll bring the phone into a shop when I have a chance.

You may want to get on a Honda board and see if others are having the same problem. Or see of there's an Android Auto board here. My car software is old and basic and doesn't run Android auto.

To make clear:

1. I am very comfortable it is an Android problem, not a Honda problem
2. My Android Auto works fine with text messages. It's only when the phone is disconnected from Android Auto that the notifications fail.
