text keyboard on screen, literally

So I acquired my friends old galaxy nexus. Love the phone and all but it seems the keyboard is embedded into the screen now. Whatever I'm doing on the phone, I can faintly see the keyboard box and letters as if I was about to text. Its not blatantly there but I do notice it, especially in pictures. Anyway to fix that? Or will it need a new screen?

You will need a new screen. That sounds like it's a burnt in image.
