Hi All:

google's Messages app is "ok", and i really like its companion Messages for Web so during the day, when i'm on my desktop PC, i can text using my desktop PC and its full sized keyboard.

i know other text messaging apps offer more versatility, visual options, etc.

may i ask please if there are superior options (better than google's messages app) but an option that it would also have a PC application option as well? i MUST be able to use it on my PC too.

thank you all in advance.

Not sure, because I don't use the service myself, but does the "Link to Windows" app allow other messaging apps to be used?

I'm using Samsung messages as it works through Link to Windows on the PC. The only thing I can't do is delete messages using the PC, which is a bit of an annoyance.

I have used YOUR PHONE COMPANION on my laptops. I can confirm the program works on the S22 since I had one for a few days. You get the PC app from the MS store for free the the Android app from Play store for free. However, you cannot delete a message from the PC; has to be done on the phone. However you can transfer photos from the phone to the PC; but to delete a photo it must be done on the phone.

I have used MySMS for a few years both on phones and on the computer. Works well for me although I do also use WhatsApp when sending a video or at some other times SMS is not best.

I've used Verizon Messages since 2015 when I want to sync messages. Allows my to link my phone texts and calls to up to 5 additional devices, works on nearly everything but I assume one needs to be a Verizon customer.

Update: Last night I changed to Google Messages from MySMS because of an article I read saying that GMessages will now support RCS chat features and other things similar to the way iMessages work on iPhone. Also, supposedly Samsung is transitioning to making Google Message the default message app on all Samsung Phones. It also has a Web app which I am using, and which looks OK. There is also an old 3rd party stand-alone version of a Windows App which I tried but uninstalled because it was giving me notices of being old and unsafe.

So far I like it with the following caveats. Google Messages is not as customizable visually as other 3rd party messaging apps. You get only a light or dark theme, that's it. But I am OK with the light theme with it's gray and green bubbles.

The other thing is that the new chat features, and emoji stuff is still not working for me even though I went to the Beta version. If an iPhone user named Beth puts a thumbs up on a message I sent, I still do not see that thumbs up on my end. I still get an annoying text readout saying "Beth liked your message". Also I do not see when Beth is typing her reply. So the RCS/Chat features do not yet seem to be working on my phone even with the latest Beta version of Google Messages.
