Text message app same as iphone?

If you mean iMessage, then no, I don't think there is. I am not sure if there is any app that shows when the other person has read, or is replying to your text, etc.

That sucks. I really enjoyed how on iphone has bubbled text preview and let's you answer back. Unlike android, there's only a small pop up on top of notification and that's it. It doesn't show a text count either.

Handscent definitely has just the feature you're talking about. I believe GoSMS has it, but their advertisements are a bit out of control.

BBM shows you delivery and read receipts. It's not sms though, it's just like a messenger. KIK also does read/delivery reports.

Does handscent have issues with lag or uses a lot of memory?
I'm new to it, roughly 2 weeks. So far not a single problem, zero lag, zero issues.

Until about 2 weeks ago I had a previous version of GoSMS, roughly 5 months old. When Go updated GoSMS, everything instantly sucked. Full screen ads, ad notifications all over the app, and just pure annoyances. So far nothing of the sorts with Handcent. Zero ads (or at least they're so small I overlook them), no lag, fluid experience. I'm actually in the process of switching all my android devices to Handcent.

Typo in my last comment... It's "Handcent", without the "s"

its coming.... be patient.

Google Hangouts is going to revolutionize communication.....

not a rep.... just really hope they revolutionize it!!!!! I have all the tools. Just need to implement it.

I love Hangouts as it is, but it could be so much better.

Handcent vs Chomp.

I'm debating on one of these. Which one doesn't have ads? Which one doesn't have problems with MMS and miss texts?

I prefer Chomp over Handcent which is very good, but a bit overcomplicated imo and i get a bit of lag with the main menus. GoSMS as mentioned is a bit of a mess now with the ads. To be honest the stock message app is good enough really.

yes, Go SMS Pro was my favorite app until that update came out.
Updates like that are why I usually, never update an app.... when new, they are great, then the money mongers come in and force us to read full page tripe.

Wish I had kept the .apk and could go back to the first one.

I believe I have the .apk of the version JUST before the ads were heavy and crazy. If you're interested I'll upload it and post the link.
Also you can search the web for "old versions" of apps to find them. Many websites have archives of previous app versions.

I've used ChompSMS for years and love it. I have it look sort of like iOS but changed the colors. Example below of me texting myself.

ChompSMS also has the quick reply window shown previously with Handcent.

None that I've seen as of yet, again I've only been using the app for about 2 weeks. The only ads I've seen is when I'm choosing a new skin to download, but even then it appears on the very bottom of the app and it's totally out of the way. No annoying pop-ups or anything of that sort
