Check your APN settings against those of your carrier (your carrier's name and apn in a google search will turn up sites with your carrier's APN settings). A long text can be sent (at the sender's discretion - you can't control it) as a series of short (160 character) texts r as a single text and the rest in an MMS. If the APN settings are wrong, you can't get an MMS.
