Text message issues, (Non time stamp)

Whenever I send a text, sometimes it wont go through resulting in my phone freaking out and sending the text message at LEAST 8 times to the person. Is there anyway to fix this (turn off resending) and is anyone else having this issue? For example today, I got a text message just as soon as I press send on another, the one that was supposed to be sending had to stop (resulting in a send error) then my phone decided to send that text 11 times. I had no clue untill my friend told me to stop. Am I the only one experiencing this?

Are you using the stock messaging app or an aftermarket app like handcent? Rooted? Stock rom? Give us more info.

Yes, I'm using Handcent, it is rooted. However prior to me both rooting and using handcent, I have undergoing the same issue.
