Text Message setting problem

I have the new active and my brother has the exact same one, on his text message list when he sends someone an email it shows his message on the right side of the screen then when they reply it shows their reply right under his message to the left side of the screen. On my phone it shows mine on the right side then when the person replied it puts theirs above mine to the left..Is there a setting that changes that back to the normal way where their replies go under mine to the left side of the screen?

Just to clarify...are you talking about texts or emails...you said both in that first line

It might be a software update issue. 1 of you might have the latest update and the other doesn't.
