I started using Handcent and love it! The question I have is, when I get a text message it shows up in Handcent and in the 'stock' message folder/icon. Is there a way to turn it off so they don't show in the stock message folder? I'm not getting duplicate notifications, just the message shows in both places.
Thanx.

Go to setting on stock messaging app & turn off the notifications

I dont think you read the question, he isnt getting double notifications. He doesnt want the message to appear in the stock messaging app and handcent. I would also like to know if you can stop the messages from appearing in the stock messaging app also.

Correct. I would like to only receive text messages in one location.

Thanx

There is no way to keep the stock messaging app from receiving the messages. The only thing you can do is go to settings on the stock app and turn off notifications for receiving messages. That way only Handcent's notifications show up.

Thank you. That's what I thought and after I got the notification turned off, it's OK, not a big deal! :p Thanx

Same here it bugged me so much @ first though. I thought handcent would take over but I guess its more like a skin

My impression of how they work, is that they use a common storage for threads and whatever program you use to view the text message gets it from the same place. The reason I think that this is the case, is that when I installed Handcent on my wifes phone all of her old threads were still viewable in the new program (I didn't notice this myself on my phone because I don't retain threads after the conclusion of a conversation)

Or, the other thing that can be done is to remove the 'Messaging' shortcut from your screen. If it's not seen, it shouldn't be bothersome.
