Hi there,

When we switched from VZW to TMO and I got my TMO phone and I restored my texts several of my text threads are messed up in Textra but are fine in the default Messenger. I've been working with the folks at Textra and what we've been able to determine is that for some reason the timestamp is wrong on those threads that are messed up. The texts all appear to be there, they're just out of order in Textra but in order in Messenger. I've been using Messenger in the mean time but I *really don't like it.

I first used My BackUp Pro to back up and restore. I then tried SMS Backup and Restore and I think I tried that hoping it would fix the problem. The folks at Textra and I have been at this via email from Feb 7 and it's till not resolved so my memory has faded as to the progression of events. There's a resync option in Textra which I've done 6 or 8 times and it doesn't help. Textra says that without the correct timestamps they'll never be in order.

Does anyone have any suggestions? The several threads that are messed up of course just *have* to be important threads or I likely woudn't care so much.

While I'm thinking of it, is it better to use the convert to MMS option for converting long messages to MMS?

Thanks,
Deb

This is what I would try; uninstall Textra, restart your phone, check to see if your msgs are still correct in Messenger. If so, reinstall Textra. Your messages from Messenger should transfer over to Textra with the correct timestamp.

Thanks but that's been tried 2x and additionally I even wiped my new phone and started over.

Is there maybe a way to export and then open one's texts like in an Excel file or something like that. Edit the dates and then import it back into the phone?

Editing the file is quite simple; easiest done on a computer instead of a phone.
Assuming the exported file is XML or something similar, just use a text editor (not word processor).
If the editor you use understands XML, you will probably get some color-coding on the contents.
