someone told me you could text on the galaxy tab....is that true!?

If you have the Verizon model will a mobile data plan, sure. If you have a Wifi Tab, your easiest route to texting is Google Voice. You can also get an app that links to your phone but I've always thought that's too awkward.

Try textPlus. It gives you a different phone number, but you can text from your Tab to any phone. You can also make calls from your Tab. Texting is free.

I use Syncsms, and have been using it as long as the 10.1 been out. It found in the market for $2.99 or so. You install it on bothe devices (one purchase for bothe devices), and install dropbox on both. Once you do that, now what ever you text on your phone showes up on you tab, and what ever you text on your tab showes up on your phone. As long as you have wifi connectivity (not sure how it works on tabs with data service). I use it EVERY DAY..
