Text Notifications

Okay, so I have the new Sprint Epic Touch 4G....it's an awesome phone. But.....when I'm talking on it and receive a text message, there's no notification alert of the text. I can't find any text settings on this phone. Is there an app I have to install or what. It's great to talk and text at the same time, but I'm not being alerted when a text comes in if I'm talking. Maybe there's just no way to be notified on this phone. Had a BB before and could set the different alerts. This is all new to me so excuse my ignorance! Thanks in advance !

The only thing I have found that will do what "we" want is vlingo.
