Texting issue

I've been having this issue lately with texting and it's failure to send messages, every 2-3 days I have to pull out the battery to have it working again. I had the Droid X since July and this issue started about two weeks now, it's getting pretty annoying now.

Are you using the default text app or a third party app? What version of the OS are you using?
