I've seen a lot saying you can not reply to text messages from the gear s if you are using textra, but I thought i seen someone say you can reply now using textra. Can't find where I found that at now, if it required the use of a app, or what.

So, can anyone tell me if you can reply/compose text messages using textra as your texting app? And it looks like you can also get MMS delivered to the watch.

I will be using the gear s via Bluetooth only, will not be getting it's own number due to unlimited data, if that makes a difference.

Thanks

I'm using Textra , a Note 5 and the Gear S. You can see Textra notifications in the Gear S and Reply a message but cannot sent a new text message. if you dismiss the notification, then you cannot longer see the icon or a screen for Textra.

I now have your setup. I am using textra also. You are correct you can reply to a textra message when you get one.

You can send a new message thru textra if you go thru the contacts in the watch. Just select the contact and then select the envelope icon and type the message and send.

I have the Samsung Gear (original version). I can get textra notifications but can't seem to reply or initiate from a contact. Is it supported?

I have a similar set up - I use Textra as my default SMS app, Note 5, and the new Gear S2.

I have to use Textra as my default SMS app because the stock Android Samsung text app cannot handle the volume of texts I have - I don't like to delete my old conversations, and the default Samsung SMS app just locks up and freezes due to the high volume of texts I keep.

Textra works great on my phone.

The problems I'm facing are with my Gear S2:

1) I can't seem to be able to open the texts that come in. I get the notification - and I can even reply to the message - but I can't open the incoming message and read it. I touch it with my finger the message won't open.

and

2) When I do reply - i replied to one just now using the voice to text function - it says it sends it, i see it as sent in the conversation on my phone (not just on the watch), but the person i sent it to never received it!

Does anyone have solutions for either of these issues?

Thanks!

You should post it in Gear S2 forum. This is for original Gear S.
