Anyone notice that the Evo LTE task switcher allows you to throw a running app off the top of the screen? It's reminiscent of how you close apps on WebOS, and it's kind of elegant.

From my initial glance at the running apps list, it doesn't seem like the the task switcher actually functions to remove applications from memory like one expected WebOS to do. So I wonder if the ability to throw them off the top of the switcher is expected to be more useful in the future.

Well, I wouldn't say it has much to do with WebOS as much as it's just a horizontal 3D version of the standard, better, ICS version.

The standard ICS one shows a small screen and icon of the app and you can see 4 at once. HTC's awful version shows 1, and makes you do more work to switch. pretty much a waste of developer hours and you're right, "throwing" it off the screen does nothing other than get it off the view and doesn't have anything to do with memory management
