This morning after finishing my workout and getting ready for work I somehow lost Visual contact with my note 9 as I was cleaning off the counter. I regained visual contact as I saw my note 9 flying through the air like a frisbie as I accidentally sent it in a horizontal spin when I pushed a against a bag that was sitting on the counter. As the phone hit the ground in slow motion face up (thank God) I saw a bright yellow flash eject from the bottom of the phone. I looked around in a haste, checking the phone and not a crack, scratch or scuff! Yeahhh but where's my s-pen, the beloved companion Saber to the note 9, it was nowhere to be found! Then with the flashlight on I find it approximately 4-5 inches under the oven. To far to reach under the small space with my hand or kitchen utensil. I started to move the oven, embarrassingly realizing how much dust and debris gets underneath it overtime without us realizing it. When I thought about a flat long spatula that we have so I push the oven back into place and get the spatula. After a couple minutes of carefully pushing the s-pen around I got it close enough to the front to pull it from under the oven. I washed it off, thank God for water resistance and it works perfect. 20190327_140735.jpeg

Glad your Note came out of this ordeal unscathed! The S-Pen is meant to do that (fly off, not hide under ovens and finding the perfect spot to hide out of reach) as a shock absorption mechanism. The few times I did drop mine, same thing ended up happening, although most of the time the hits I gave it were not enough to unsheathe the whole thing so it would just be sticking out as if saying 'OK, you did it again, butterfingers!'. At least you noticed! Some people don't realize the pen flies off and they just leave it behind :(

Lol I know right! The pen flew probably about 3 ft to make it under the stove like that. I knew s-pens tend to pop out during a fall (happened on my note 5,7,8 too) but I didn't realize it was a shock absorption feature.

Yup. Transfer much of the shock into the S-Pen to send it flying instead of stressing the rest of the phone's materials as much as possible. Sort of like how a car's exterior gets crumpled and flies off first upon collision, to avoid the cabin frame and occupants from getting much of the initial force.
