I've been using Psion handheld computers since I bought my first Psion 3a in the mid 1990s and am still using a Psion 5mx. It's now over 12 years old, so I decided that a Galaxy Note would be the closest I was ever going to get. I was about to buy and the Note II was announced. After a reasonable wait, I've now got a new Note II.

I'm now looking for apps to replace the apps on my Psion. I've just been reading the androidcentral article, 'The best alarm clock apps for Android'.

However, one major feature that is not mentioned is about the alarm 'waking-up' the Note when it's switched off at night. Do any of these alarms have that feature or is it missing in the Note's hardware?

I asked this a long time ago, well a few years ago. smart phones/tablets are not deigned to be turned off over night. just leave it plugged in and on.

I use an app called night clock. It make the phone look like a regular digital alarm clock while still using the phones alarms. Screen stays lit dim all night with the time showing. Looks very nice.

Note 2, it's true, ,size is everything!

Can't beat stock alarm on note 2 and the voice commands. I just say "snooze" and it snoozes. Or "off".

I use Alarm Clock Extreme and highly recommend it. It slowly escalates in sound level and has an option where you have to solve an arithmetic problem to snooze the alarm.

I use alarm clock plus pro... Yes I paid for it. There is a free version. I'm tough to wake up and setting it so I have to do math (so I actually wake up and not just hit dismiss) with any sound, music, whatever on my phone.
