The Complaint Dept!

Come on ppl if u didn't like the power button placement then why'd u keep it or buy it? I do find it comfortable because I'm right handed and can reach it easily with my index finger.

If ur charging ur phone with a computer then u will have a slow charge but also keep in mind it's a large battery that's a lithium ion polymer. They just don't have a 20 minute quick charge.

I wish there was a menu button but I can live without it.

The pull down toggles would have been nice but I don't use them much.

I find the software more if an issue such as; I wish the home screens would revolve instead of stop at the end, I wish blink feed was optional, and I wish the gallery took less steps to view photos.

I agree that madlaw is entitled to his opinion. I found myself (coming from the S3) and having the S4 that I prefer the "one". I got used to the layout pretty quick and it works out good for me.

MADLAW, I'll buy your "one" if your willing to sell it at a discounted price!

I can certainly understand why people would voice their opinions about how button placement on a phone can leave much to be desired. Afterall, we've come so far in terms of cell phone advancement that it is no longer just a phone, but a way of life and culture. I mean, seriously, people are calling it their "daily drivers" for crying out loud. But for me, I find it pure comedy that a 1 cm difference in the horizontal positioning of a power button on a phone that's 2.5 inches wide can really be this controversial. Especially funny when I read comments/reviews that said the placement would have been perfect if it was positioned at the center-top of the phone. But since it is 1 cm to the left, it could be possibly the "worst power button placement" in the history of mobile devices. Seriously, people?

I think we live in a world now where consumers like us are spoiled by the ever-so-competitive landscape of mobile devices and technology that the "make or break" of a phone could possibly come down to the human factor engineering of the placement of something as trivial as a home/power button. For me, as with many others, I can reach the power button just fine with my right hand (single). I don't see how someone can "comfortably" reach the power button if it was placed in the center and be "uncomfortable and awkward" in trying to reach a power button off-set 1 cm to the left. But when I'm at home or not driving or not at work and I'm just reaching to play around with my phone, I can easily hold it with my right hand and use my left index finger to power the phone on if I don't feel like "stretching" the limits of my right hand (I feel silly just saying that previous sentence). Afterall, we're talking about an action that would take all but what, 0.5 seconds to perform? Not exactly "strenuous" activity we're talking about here ;)

Bottom line, in the grand scheme of things, mobile devices now have improved in such great leaps and bounds that it's a bit silly to think we're still having raging debates about button placement. Again, I agree that every person is entitled to their own opinions and to each their own in terms of what they like/dislike about the aesthetics of a phone. I happen to think the HTC One is a fabulous device and something trivial such as button placement should not nearly affect the overall quality of a phone as much as it has.

Another thing I'd like to point out is that these professional "reviewers" are paid to be critical of every minute detail because it's their job, simply put. They'd make lousy critics if they agreed or complimented everything about every device. It's kinda like how movie critics that would never give any film 100% on principle alone simply because doing so would discredit their entire reputation of being a critic, LOL. But at the end of the day, for the casual android fan/user like me, I'd gladly take an HTC One with the most awkward button layout ever imaginable over a phone with ergonomic perfection and lackluster performance in other areas. In short, I've never fully agreed that ergonomics should hold such a high weight in terms of reviewing the overall performance of a phone. I'm sure many will disagree and throw out the counter-argument about "then why are we even posting on android forums", and to that I would say, because I had some free time =)

This. I'm not saying someone is wrong in not liking the placement, but to say it renders the phone unusable or worst placement ever is just wow. I just know that if I went into another phone's forum and said similar things about it I'd get nothing positive in response.

Yeah it's weird, but phone selection has taken on aspects of religion ... up next! Your phone will translate devotions into Ye Olde English and Latin soeth thouest can comprehend the One Truth!

Nihil Verum

My wife is unhappy with the unlocked One I just paid $565 for. I might take you up on that!

I suppose Android users are really a different breed of technology consumers :) My wife came exclusively from iphone and tried out the Note 2. It was decent for awhile but she was constantly complaining about how Android devices were not "intuitive" enough. For example, she couldn't figure out how to sift through email on her phone. Being an android user, I instinctively tried to swipe horizontally across the screen as if turning a page and it worked. And for her, that was the most bizarre experience ever. "Why don't they just put a button that says next?" was her complaint (probably cuz the iphone spells it out for you as such).

My observation: Apple has created a population of brainwashed iOS zombies who need their hands held and be told how to use a device. When one such lost soul deviates out of the realm of Apple and stumbles into a world of technology where end-users can be free to explore their own creative imaginations, they freak out and run back to their captors in pure stockholm syndrome fashion.

I could be off a little bit but yea, there it is :)

Can you imagine if you went to other forums and put down their phones and then go as far as search out numerous review comments to snip and try to support your negative comments. (And do it numerous times a day in numerous threads!)

You would likely be banned I suppose.

Lets try to remember that everyone has a preference in phones, guys, and it's perfectly ok for them to express how they feel on it. What works for one, may not work for another. Addressing something you dislike about the phone is not the same as attacking it. While the HTC one is a great device, no doubt, it is not without it's flaws. This forum is here so you can talk about everything regarding your HTC ones, what you love about it, and yes, what you hate about it. So lets try to keep it civil and appreciate that we all have the opportunity to dislike and like whatever we please.

That really is very well put.

My biggest dissappointment so far is battery life.

It's ok. But my EVO 4G LTE was much better. I was never worried about it dying in one day with that one. With my One, it lasts about a workshift. Not good.

I really wish that wasn't the case. I have been at work since 10am and it is now 330 nd my battery is at 20%.

I do use it a lot, but I also used my EVO LTE a lot. Usage hasn't changed. Battery life here is much worse. I always have to have it connected to a charger. I haven't had to do that since I owned a Palm Pre.

Do you know what in particular is using the battery so much?

I think there is something else going on with your battery usage. You must have something running that you aren't aware of.

The only real complain that I have is Bluetooth voice dialing/commands. It works but it's broken in such a way that it's un enjoyable. I have 4 different BT's and they ALL do the same which is I hit the button on the BT...it makes a sound then phone says "say a name or number", but the "say name or number" is sow low you can't hear it...unless you turn volume up very fast!! After saying name, the phone says "say OK or cancel" but the "say OK or cancel" is so low again that you can't hear it. It's just so freakin' annoying.

Did you ever figure out what was using so much of your batter?
