So as a spectator I've noticed an increased amounts of problematic threads concerning the Motorola Droid. Is it safe to say that the phone does genuinely have a large amount of bugs that still need worked out? Not saying its a bad phone...just one that may have been put out a little early.

Is it a great "first" phone in the sense of Verizons first Android phone? Did it live up to the expectations?

Just wondering what the thoughts on the phone. With any phone there are going to be issues. Ive just noticed a strong amount surrounding this phone.

Every new release is going to have it's problems. You must also take into account that a lot of users, like me, are first time android users with the droid.

So most trial and error is most likely from user error.

But of course the Droid does have it's problems. You just have to make sure your willing to be sort of a Guinea Pig.

On terms of the phone being pushed out to early? I personally don't think so...at least its not on terms of the first Blackberry Storm. And it more than lived up to my expectations.

Had it from day one with no issues. Many issues are user error.

I left my bb tour which was made by a company that has been making these types of phones for a loooooong time and my droid has fewer problems

I've had the phone now for two weeks and I'm loving it. I was got the Storm 1 on release day and boy talk about buggy! Of course there are going to bugs but as far as my phone goes, none of them are deal breakers or affect the overall use of the phone.

Also, take into consideration that Google will be releasing an update in 3 days. My BB Storm took almost 3 months for an update to come out.

Keep in mind that this is a user forum, so naturally many of the posts will focus on errors, glitches, fixes, and problems. For every user with a problem, there are probably hundreds or thousands with no complaints, but they're not going to post on the forum to tell us that.

In my opinion most of the "problems" reported here are operator error. I have had WinMo phones, blackberries, etc, and this has been the most stable. Considering how many things the Droid does (gps, wifi to name a few) it is amazing how stable it is. I try to stay impartial, and not sound like a afanboy, but I thing the droid is a homerun.

Totally agreed.

The surprising number of satisifed folks tell much. I'll get mine in the next two weeks, letting the early adopters wrestle thru any big issues, of which I've really seen none. And...you have to realize that early adopters are the very ones who will load crapola willy nilly and then wonder why the phone doesn't work. The later folks load one thing and wait a few days. When all is well, we try something else. I suspect most of the trouble is from the usual conflicts from early software and new hardware. Give it time and that all sorts out.

I have had my droid from day one and have had no problems with it. This is my first smart phone and I must admit it is smarter than me. Any problems that I have had are user errors. I do think there are improvements that verizon could have made to the phone but as a phone it does most all the thing that I would expect.

Love it,

Bob

I have had virtually no issues with my Droid, and even the small things I have run into I have found have been my own fault or error. This is the most stable platform I've ever owned, and I too have owned several BlackBerry and WinMo devices.

I'm not usually an early, early adopter of new software or devices, but decided to take a chance on Droid because I wasn't ready to risk buying a Storm 2, which had been on the top of my list until just recently.

I'm also very careful what I load on my Droid and go with the well-known, popular apps that seem to have proven track records (Swift, Note Everything, Quick Settings, Listen, Newsrob, Evernote, Shop Savvy, Bar Code Scanner, Shazam, WeatherBug, and Keeper). Of the 10,000 apps out there, I have to believe the majority are worthless (to me, not necessarily to others), broken, silly, or not quite ready for prime time but getting there.

I'm always watching for new ones, too. I was a little disappointed at the ADC2 results, as most of the winners were games, and I'm not into gaming.

The phone is everything I wanted and more. The only issue I have is with the camera and hopefuly that will be corrected with an update. Overall way better then anyother phone I have had.

lol, go to the "Problems with your Storm" and "storm 2" threads on Crackberry.com, if you want to see problems with a phone, lol.

Some people on here have already got the update, and said the phone take pictures faster.

I have had no issues. I love my Droid. I agree with the earlier posts about most issues being operator errors.

not to sound like a broken record, but I've had zero problems. I watch the forums too looking for errors and would agree (even as a first time android user), I think many of the errors are user related.

I'm usually very hesitant to jump and "Version 1" of any device. Version 2 is always better. (ie: storm and storm 2). but I made the jump on day 1 and haven't looked back. no issues

Well whenever they update the firmware, there are always a hand full of problems. I haven't had any problems.

The phone's been a solid performer for me. They're have been a few quirks, but nothing major. The droid is light years ahead of the storm 1 when it was released (anyone remember os 4.7.0.65, ugh!).
