The free VR glasses with pre-orders [S7 edge]

So, Samsung is offering a free pair of virtual reality glasses with preorders of the S7s. Has anyone tried the Samsung Gear VR? I'm curious as to how they feel compared to Google Cardboard. The cardboard glasses made me feel very nauseous.

I doubt that you would feel any less nauseous using the Gear VR. I have owned it and Cardboard and neither one gave me any trouble. The advantage of the Gear VR lies in the better construction along with Oculus content. You do have a diopter with the Gear so that may help if its the focus ruining your experience.

I currently own the Gear VR with my S6. It is nice, but for me I would rather that standup wireless charger. Just not enough VR content out there yet...

Thanks for the feedback. It sounds like I shouldn't allow myself to be overly tempted by the VR deal just yet. Maybe I can track down a pair of glasses and try them before I place any sort of a phone order. There are some other tempting phones to choose from right now.

I think Samsung's glasses are phenomenal compared to cardboard. With the gear we are, you truly feel like you're immersed in another world. Not so much with cardboard.

Samsung are not offering this in the UK. after 4 conversations with them today I can confirm. if you're in the uk you need to ring them andgive hem your details so that they can raise a request to bring the offer here.

If you have a Bestbuy near you, you can go there and demo the VR. I used it a few times at Bestbuy and thought it worked great.

Just wish they offered the 64GB model, since 24GB is not really enough for VR content and phone apps. Samsung does not offer adaptable storage with their stock rom, so all apps have to be the internal storage. I only use my Note 4 now as a VR device with the Gear VR and as a back-up phone. I use a MXPE 64GB as my main phone and it also has micro sd slot.

I gave it a try yesterday at Best Buy. I think I can use it. Samsung's VR is so different from Google Cardboard. I don't know that I could use it for 1 hour at a time, but I don't think it will make me flat out ill.

Google Cardboard was brutal for me. I was sick for a good 4 hours after only using it for 10 or 15 minutes.

They also offer it in Switzerland. Swisscom even ships the phone + VR early (March 8). No idea why Samsung isn't doing this in the UK?

I agree. It is nice but with the content being limited, what will you do with it once you played all the games/watched the movies etc. Good thing it's free
