The hypocrisy in complaining about bloat, hardware, software.

How many people including myself have complained about bloatware and apps that come included on your phone that we say we don't need. Well I got the Galaxy Note 5 and with the trimmed down TouchWiz I find myself missing features that Samsung used to include on previous models. Such as hover view with my finger, it still works with the S Pen but on previous notes and S line phones you can hover your finger across say a picture and it will show you a preview of it or make it bigger, similar to what Apple is now doing with their 3d touch.

I even found myself going in and downloading apps that were missing including the dreaded Google Plus that I used to complain about. I downloaded additional camera modes that used to be automatically there, as well as additional s note modes that were missing. I searched for apps to similate the functions of apps that are no longer an option on this year's model such as toolbox. I was actually happy with the packaging of Microsoft Office and the demise of Polaris office in this year's model which actually is 4 apps compared to the 1 lol.

I say all this because, I use to complain and complain as many Android fans do about software, hardware etc... But I find myself missing certain aspects of those very things I complained about. The funny thing is, the few things I havn't missed yet is removable battery, SD card, or plastic bodies. Although I do miss water resistance and IR blaster.

DEVICE HISTORY (since they got smart)
PHONES: Galaxy Nexus, LG viper, Galaxy s3, HTC Evo 4g, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy s5, LG G-Flex, Galaxy Mega 6.3, Galaxy s6 edge, Galaxy Note 5. TABLETS: Galaxy Note 10.1 gt-n8013, Galaxy tab 3 7.0. WATCH: Galaxy gear

It does not sound like hypocrisy to me. You wanted the app, so you went and got it, just like it is supposed to be done.

I suppose, it's just funny how I complained like so many and now want many of the features back.

You make a good point. My issue with so-called bloatware personally has more been when companies have replaced existing standard stuff with inferior replacements, or made loads and loads of changes but only a few are actually polished or optimised and worth having. IMO, there's nothing wrong with the manufacturers adding their own twists on stuff if it's a genuine improvement or their customers will actually like it.

I only count it as proper bloat when I can't get rid of it. So I've got lots of that, just hidden away right now.

I can agree with everything you said.

Exactly. If the manufacturer didn't include it on the "unlocked" version of their phone and you can't uninstall it... that qualifies as "bloat" to me.

I have an unlocked Moto X, which has zero bloatware from carriers (since it has no carrier) and the stock Android skin. Even I could do with less of Motorola and Google's bundled apps. Spotlight? Sheets? Quick Office? I don't use any of them, would gladly remove them if I could be bothered to root my phone.
