To clarify, I am likely to get the phone just after it's officially announced (and before it launches at retail), at my product training. Samsung will want me to promote it like crazy to get preorders going! Meaning that I can check out stuff that specifications don't tell us like battery life, performance, memory management and of course low light picture quality.

The internal codename for the phone is 'Hero'. It launches on the 11th March. There is the possibility that those who preorder early in the UK will get the phone 3 days before the general retail availability (they have yet to make a final decision on this). I've also heard that it will utilise Type-C USB but seeing as this info was passed to me second-hand I can't guarantee it, though I think it's likely to be accurate.

S7 announcement

Does anyone know what time they will be announcing the new S7 and S7 Edge next week from the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain? Also will be broadcasted on YouTube or anything? I would like to see this has it happens. I was wondering at that time will they go live with the pre-orders? I'm on T-Mobile and was wondering if they would start the pre-orders then or have to wait?

Never mind I found it.....Samsung has announced that it will unveil the new flagship devices during its "Unpacked" event, set to take place on Sunday, Feb. 21 at 7:00 p.m. CET (that's 1 p.m. ET and 10 a.m. PT) in Barcelona, Spain.

I dont understand the frenetic attention to an announcement to an in line upgrade to an existing line of phones. In the S7/Edge case, the leaking rumours are more numerous than the icebergs in the ice field that sunk the Titantic. Good grief. Chill, people. The MWC web site -- https://www.mobileworldcongress.com/ -- has various resourses, brochures and an app that tells all on its home page. Instead of watching the shilling from various outlets on the 'net, I opt to watch the BBC 'Click' show -- BBC World News - Click -- available on most cable TV systems. Spencer Kelly and his minions do a decent job getting the story and filtering out the noise. Alternately, in past years manufacturers and Verizon phone carrier web sites had new pages posted virtually simultaneously with the new product announcement. The Twitterverse will be ripping: search on such tags as #MWC, #Barcelona, combinations thereof and brand names and models. But remember, it is just a phone with incremental features over a decent -- note I didn't say great -- S6. And remember to breath.
