The Note line through the years

I have had all of them, except the Note 4 edge. All through Verizon except the first one, which I had through AT&T. I love the Note line!

I'm among the Note 4 fans. I wish Samsung would focus more on function over design with the note series. Let the S series be the sleek beautiful phones and the note series be the workhorse phone. Clydesdales are beautiful horses in their own right and don't need to resemble race horses.

The removable back and with it removable battery gives more functionality. Who cares what the back looks like? It's going to be hidden in a case anyway. That's always been one of the stupidest critiques of various phones. And they could work with case makers or even make one themselves to give options for backs that attach to the phone and have a more premium design or feel. Why not make a real leather back so people can upgrade from a faux leather?

I love the curved glass on my S8, but prefer the flat glass for my Note 4. The flat glass just seems more appropriate to me on the Note for some reason.

I miss the IR blaster too when I'm using my S8. (Right now because I lost my sim adapter, I just run my Note through WiFi provided by my S8.) It's something that could differentiate the Note and S lines, but they've dropped it and that's part of why I haven't gotten a Note since the 4.

The ideal Note for me would have the removable back and battery, IR blaster, flat screen, virtual buttons only on the front (that's one great feature of the new phone) and front facing speakers on the top and bottom for a stereo experience.

I was planning to get a Note 8 and on keeping my S8 and just switching between them with one at work the other at home, but have shifted to wanting the Tab S3 instead of the Note. It has basically everything I want from the Note (plus more like the keyboard case and bigger screen) except for what my S8 can do better than the Note--be a phone that isn't too bulky. The cameras will probably be on the S9 so I can wait for that.

The Note series was my favorite up to the four, but the line has taken a wrong turn since then.

Man..I've had all of them except the original. This either makes me feel old, or makes me contemplate exactly how much money ive spent on phones over the years.

This also just reminded me of the VZW logo on the home button of the Note 2. Memories.

This.

The design of the Note 4 with the faux leather and faux stitching was gauche. The Note 8 is much better looking.

I agree the Note 8 is way better looking. But the Note 4 didn't have the faux stitching. That was the Note 3. Not that it really makes a big difference to this conversation.

I've had the 2, 3, 4, 5, three 7's and can't wait for the 8. This S7Edge is not what I wanted, it's been a long year.

Damned, I could have sworn my Note 7s were a lot bigger than my Note 5 (than what the picture shows)? And, I really wish I hadn't seen the picture now... didn't expect the Note 8 to be that much taller than the Note 7. I guess I'll just have to wait and see it when my AT&T Store gets them in... the reviews are just TOO convincing for me and I've been without my S-Pen for TOO long.

Yeah. The Note 4 had that terrible faux leather, though. Just didn't have the stitching.

I know how you feel.I had all the Notes and S line starting from 1. I still have a working Note 1 and the Galaxy S captivate sitting in my closet.

The Note 1 and 2 were superb, still have my Note 1. Can't understand why the latest Note has to be so tall and skinny. Really miss the old days of solid build and replaceable batteries.

Yes the build quality of the original note was top notch.
I loved having the ability to carry around spare batteries and then have the freedom to use my phone with wild abandon and then just pop in a spare one if needed. The aspect ratio makes a lot of difference. My original note felt like it had more real estate than say my note 3,4, S7 edge or any of the 3 iPhone plus models I've had despite them having larger displays on paper.

You not just feeling it. It actually does have less.

I had the 2,3,4,5,7. I loved the Note 2 until it became miserably slow. Wiping it detent help either. The Note 3 &4 were great, easily my favorite. The Note 5 was good until my power button sank. The Note 7 was a major headache for me to return twice. I don't miss it. Lol. I'm really excited about the Note 8.

YES! Battery life was bomb af on the note 2. I had 4 extended batteries too on mixed use i could almost make 2 days.
