went to drop the doggies off at the groomer who works nearby. she was stuck in roadwork traffic and didn't arrive before me. my pup Bella was in a frenzy that had me horribly distracted. groomer and I had been texting. I guess when I got out I put my phone on top of my car because when I got home it wasn't with me.

I started back the way I had come home and looked everywhere along the way, including thoroughly in front of the place where she works. it's a bit remote, not her place, and is actually the home where I got my other pup Jazzy. the phone was not to be found. I continued searching all the way home, making plans as I drove for the steps I needed to take before someone nefarious did unspeakable things with my phone and data. keep in mind I live pretty rural, but town adjacent.

got home and started changing my main password, then headed to google to use find my phone to see if I could ping it and deactivate it. next I was going to call it to assist with the locating. I opened my email and my son had sent me an email saying "Picked up by someone. Scott Gardner, 253 xxx xxxx. I started calling but no one would answer. I was so freaked by then that I forgot to call it. my son reminded me and Scott picked up my phone "you must be the owner".

we met and I got my phone back, offered a reward which he sweetly declined, gave me his card and said "in case you ever need anything. he is great big, teddy bear, hunky, mountain of a man. if only I were 20 years younger and he wasn't married. lol

the phone was on the side of the road, he passed it coming and then picked it up on his way back. he was as surprised as me that he actually made contact with me and was able to return it to me. I told him to tell his wife she got a good one. ;)

the phone is in perfect condition after riding atop my car, bouncing to the ground, etc. the case is slightly scuffed, the screen protector has one small scuff on the corner, and my all glass Note 8 is perfect! Alcantra case by Samsung and this screen protector. I even have an extra one to put on if I want. can't believe how this turned out. I was already planning whether to contact my main insurance, if lost, or Worth Ave if I found it and glass was broken.

Glad it worked out so well for you. That must be the giant sigh of relief that shook the entire east coast of the US.

thank you! that was it! talk about panic... so many parts of this could have gone so very wrong. I was adding up the dollars as I drove.

Glad to hear you got your baby back there Flicker. Reminds me of how I had gone down to the VA Beach Oceanfront for a late night stroll some years
ago. Got back to my home in Norfolk when I realized my S4 was missing. Called the phone several times that night with no answer. On my last Hail Mary call I got a security guard at one of the hotels who said a guest had found it and turned it in. There are some good folks still left many of which can be found on this forum.

Dammmmmmnnnnnnn you are lucky lol. I've dropped mine quite a few times with case on and with no case but nothing like what happened to you. Lol. Glad you got it back.

thanks! getting it back was amazing enough, but not one scratch or crack was unbelievable. and I was on a rocky dirt road. so much danger there. it stayed on the car around two corners, a left and a right, over lots of bumps, etc., but when I stopped to get on the main road and took off, that's when it fell. so lucky.

I really am, both for the no damage and for the guy who found it. the case was beat up in some areas where it bounced, but with no damage at all to the phone I decided to spring for another one for only $10 this go round. I like the case a lot and love the protection it gave. no need to deal with the uglies until I swap the phone.

did you read about Samsung maybe discontinuing the Note series?!

Yeah lol glad the case did the job, phone held up and glad there are still honest people out there. I had a guy tell me once to not lose my note8 in front of him cause he probably wouldn't return it cause he couldn't afford one. I told him those a death/fighting words lol. Told him don't let me catch him with my phone cause he won't have any hands to use it. I saw a story on it but most of the stories going around are possibly merging the s line with note line but one would still possibly have the spen. They better keep note line even if they just changed the name. I don't want a plain s phone. Gotta have my spen. That is why when I get the note9. I'm not getting rid of my note8 or note9 cause if they do take away the note line I'll just use note8 and note9 til they both die and then look elsewhere. No note line will make me jump ship. Won't go to iPhone again but something else.

Well that's a great turn of events @toenail_flicker
I work in construction and have dropped my Note 8 several times already!
So far, not a scratch on it from those drops.
Of course it's in a thick case at work.
Does your screen protector cover the edges of your phone or not?
I don't have any screen protector on mine, the case I use for work, supcase unicorn beetle, has a thick plastic screen protector.
At home and on the weekends I use other cases and the screen goes 'naked'

yes it is! it covers the edges and down at the bottom corners where it hit. I got so lucky. I keep checking it 'cause it doesn't seem real yet that it survived with no marks, chips, etc. lots of dings in the case that I hadn't noticed, mostly on the edges and corners, so I bought another one on sale. I hate a messed up case.

That had a happy ending. I'm glad for you as it is so inconvenient to ones life to lose an item with so much personal data. Where is the picture of your dogs before and after grooming? lol Here is me and hubby with our two. They recently passed Canine Good Neighbour Certification. 20180623_073314.jpg

"I grabbed some popcorn. What a good story. ??????"

lol totally too long, I know, but I was so jazzed! for me it was cool all the way around.
