Had a chance to watch the Pixel presentation. I love the phone and ordered one, but OMG it was the Original Amateur Hour! Rick and Brian were stiff, the location looked like the gym where I had high school dances. They could have just put a sheet up and shown slides from a Kodak Carousel. And the audience. I thought at first they were zombies. Rick would say something dramatic, pause and wait for a response. Crickets. And it looked like it was a pretty small audience. Man, they have to jazz it up like Apple. Get a better place and rehearse better. I guess everything has a learning curve.

Well, everyone has their pros and cons, same goes with Google. Indeed their presentation is not that "inspired" compare to Apple presentation.

But here the difference between them, Apple are good in marketing, while Google are good in innovating.

Hahaaha. I agree. At first I thought it was some conference room within Google's campus. I even said to my girlfriend "man Google has a lot to learn from Apple and Samsung this looks totally home made"

Rick in particular looked very rehearsed / canned.

I found it refreshing actually. I do think they could use some more enthusiasm for their own products but just announcing for a small audience and done is great to me.
Maybe I'm just jaded from years of bombastic tech launches but the trained monkey response of the audience cheering every tiny thing announced just grates on me.

"We removed the headphone jack" - audience claps.
"you know why?" - audience is on the edge of its seat with anticipation, while clapping.
"....courage." - audience erupts. A couple of bras are thrown on stage, while a small group of journalists do the harlem shake. While clapping.

Couldn't agree more. I stopped watching apple's announcements once the exaggeration outpaced the actual product's worth, and once most of the audience became fanbois.

Yeah... that was the single most inane comment I have ever seen Apple make. Steve must have rolled over after that one..
