The price is right

I must confess that before seeing the pricing of the Nexus 4, I had my heart set on a HTC 8S as my next device. However, seeing as the Nexus is the price unlocked in the UK and is on a whole different planet in terms of specs, I believe only a diehard WP fan could choose it over the Nexus 4, and I believe this will be true for many other handsets too, including other android devices in the price range. Not to mention the added value of a Nexus device and quick updates. A great showing from google!

What do you mean? You've never seen an ad for $99 phones or even free. Those are good prices, but there is a lot of junk hardware.

Those aren't free and clear phones, those are contract phones meaning the carrier will rape you in fees and high prices so they can give you a cpl hundred off the upfront price.
