I love this phone...but today's hiccups have annoyed me. Any solutions?

1)Laggy texts. I use the stock messaging app and its choppy when switching in between texts, when hitting the back button and so on. I'm used to a bit of a lag but the past few days it has worsened. Weird thing is the time on the notification bar disappears quickly while it lags then reappears. Also, typing isn't so fluid. I also often run into while typing on the Swype keyboard, it doesn't show the letters until you hit the space bar...but I understand that individual issue could be Swype. Though annoying indeed.

2) Listening to music and notifications... Often while listening to music, the volume fades when an incoming text as normal thoughthe audio volume doesn't return to normal therefore I have to skip to the next song in order to get the audio volume back to where it's suppose to be. Another notification audio issue is with headphones plugged in and the text notification sounds, it sometimes goes through the headphones and other times through the speaker.

3) Data keeps coming and going. It's fine at 3G but then all of a sudden disappears so I have no data at all then eventually comes back to 3G..Not sure if I need to calibrate something since I'm in different area. It's been doing this constantly today. What can I do?

4)Camera..today the cameras buttons were all upside and wouldn't return to normal ...until I reset the phone. Asides from the fair camera, the shutter noise is annoying..and no I'm not trying to take creeper shots..I'm hoping on jb they will add options to mute the shutter noise on both the camera and screenshot. Is there a way to mute the screenshot? I'm often at the gym listening to Pandora and take screenshots of songs I like, and it always awkward with the loudass screenshot noise. Now that's when you can accuse me of being a creeper! Lol. Gtg battery is bout to die Bp

i can only help with 1 and 2 sorry. Go Sms txt app and PowerAmp music player.
i know youll say "but it should just work out the box" but fact is samsung software is crap and luckily there are some fantastic android developers

global s3, UK. Ask me anything and ill reply even if its just an intelligent (or stupid) guess ;)

That's the thing. It should work straight out of the box. I am finding it difficult to acustom myself with a new launcher. I don't have the patience. Though saying that I don't have that many problems with my s3. :D

Make sure you're not in power saving mode as it will lag during multitasking if you have a lot of apps running.

im just talkin bout text and music apps mate.
the way i see a phone, its just a bit of hardware waiting to be loaded with (decent) software.
i suppose the average user doesnt see it that way to be fair. especialy with the s3 which is a lot of peoples first android or even smartphone..

That is true. I don't mind a few changes here and there but you would expect the original software to work properly from the word go.

Umm no. In a perfect world maybe that would happen. However most devices launch with some kind of problem/problems at first. So just don't go blaming Samsung. I've had many devices from many manufacturers which out of the box, were by no means perfect and required updates to fix. Wait on the soon to be released jellybean update which should include some bug fixes and then

Thanks for the replies.. I will try those apps and see how it goes. I thought using a text app would add lag but I shall see!

I indeed had the power saving option on, so hopefully that is why these problems have gotten worse just these past couple of days. Do you think that's why my data keep disappearing and coming back? It's doing it constantly and not only is it annoying, but it's also eating my battery up. I've just begun to have this issue when I traveled from a strictly LTE area, to a different time zone with 3G and LTE nearby. Is there a way to change it to strictly stay on 3G?

Well you found half of your issue right there power saving mode!!! Yes you should be able to set phone to 3G only thru mobile data / connection whatever it's called. Yes usually 3rd party apps like go sms etc.. Are better than what comes with phone.
