I've read online that it doesn't.

I've just had hands on with the edge at my product training.

I can confirm it does have a notification LED.

Re: It has a notification LED

Good to know. I have seen comments both ways

Re: It has a notification LED

Well hey, not even needed anymore with the always on display (I think they need a better name for that, or use AOD). Honestly, they should put the LED on the back so you can see if you have a notification when the AOD isn't visible.

Re: It has a notification LED

I'm sure it's a multi-colored LED, but can it be configured via third-party apps, i.e. Textra? I was able to do that on my G4 and it was pretty cool to have multiple colors for email, phone, texts, etc.

It was flashing blue when I held it so probably. The S6 and S6 edge have multi-coloured LED notification lights.

I for one would be happier with an LED notification than an always on display so super happy to hear this. Maybe I'll change my mind after trying it out for a bit.

Coming from a Motorola device with Moto Display, I think an LED notification light would still be nice. With an app light Light Flow, you can assign and customize the color to just about any app, which is great if you're on the other side of a room you can tell what notifications you have. Always on display is nice, but you can only see that from so far away. I would use both if the option were available. The idea of a light on the back of the device is a good one, LG actually did that with the G2 if I remember right, they had a colored LED on the front and light around the power button on the back.

I saw the LED at the store on the G7 and it was on and red. Seemed pretty bright but didn't think to look at a distance. I have the Moto x and love that I can look for notifications without hitting a button. However that one breathed which meant I had to stare at it for long enough to make sure I didn't miss the display if there was going to be one. It had nice sized notification icons. The S7 icons look small. I don't see how from a distance you could tell what it is. I'm a bit concerned if I don't look carefully I may not notice since the clock is always on anyway. The LED on too would catch my eye as long as it isn't obnoxious looking.

Let's hope Samsung fixed it's issue with the LED. In the S6 and Note 5 they changed the coding to the light and apps like Light Flow could not control it properly. It took a work around that had some draw backs. As reported you could never get the right colors or get them to alternate with multiple notifications.

Aleays-on display was obnoxious on my Moto X and Droid Turbo 2, constantly distracting me with a giant clock or notification, which everyone can see and you can't customize much, so it was all-or-nothing annoying+useful or nothing. Maybe if Samsung let me customize the AOD fully I wouldn't mind, but otherwise a little LED light that fades in and out is less distracting and more tolerable.

I see a lot of mentions about the AOD thing. Just if you guys haven't learned about it yet, you can turn off the display in the settings
