I'm an early buyer(thanks best buy!), and the first thing I did was test these speakers. Jaw dropped when I tried the 'Debbie' demo.

This is a true media device now. Its absolutely amazing how something as trivial as speakers can change things. Witht he original nexus 7, I lived with the quality of the speakers. Didn't think it was that bad. Now I'm thinking how I the hell did I think they were decent in the first place.

Anyways, cheers. Been playing with this thing for about an hour and so far, this new nexus 7 is setting another bar.

Its night and day, man. I just can't even. Its loud. Its robust. Haven't noticed any cracking yet. And its true surround sound. You wouldn't think it would be that effective with the speakers so close, but you can clearly tell what sounds are coming out of which side.

I don't know about epic but they are much better than before. But thats not saying much and not as good as HTC One or Nexus 10 front facing speakers.

Epic is perhaps a bit strong. But I don't know if I agree that the Nexus 10 speakers perform better.

I really just mean they are front facing which would have been nice here too. Actually I think all speakers should be front facing .

They are quite good, dont expect the most amazing thing ever, but they are still a huge upgrade over 2012 one.

It's surprising that more devices don't have them.. Hopefully Apples next iPadphonepodthingy, comes with front facing speakers. Then everyone will have to follow suit.

I agree. I'm really impressed that my HTC One speakers sound better than the Nexus 7 but it's not by much though. The Nexus 7 speakers are impressive nonetheless.

Btw, I have noticed that my videos on goggle play sound different than on YouTube or Netflix. Anyone else notice this?
