The Ultra takes great pictures

With all the camera bashing going on I'm surprised to see one with this topic lol. Thanks for the pic.

I will say, I feel there is a learning curve, to how to use THIS particular camera.
A moment ago, I watched a CNET camera review of the S20 Ultra. It was rather informative. Especially on using the 108MP, and the 'Single Shot' feature/option.

Agreed 100% on the learning curve to using this phone camera. I'm loving some of the zoom features but I've quickly learned there's good zoom and bad zoom on this phone. 2x or 3x zoom looks awful as they're just cropped in. 4x looks great as that's when the dedicated zoom lens takes over. Up to 10x looks acceptable then anything over that is poor but expected and good enough for what it is.

Yea there was definitely a learning curve! It took me about a week to consistently start taking better photos than my S10. However, my concern is how is the autofocus going to perform while filming in low light condition like in an arena concert where you don't have time to play with manual adjustments and want to keep looking at the viewfinder to a minimum where a learning curve is taken out of the equation and you're relying solely on it's auto capabilities.

learning curve to use a point and shoot? That's as don't as Apple telling customers they're holding it wrong.

go take twenty photos of moving subjects with you s20... then use a pixel and see what you get.
They're both great cameras for different situations. I prefer the Pixel for moving objects and kids/pets, but love the Ultra when going for walks and taking nature pics. The joys of owning both.

All of theses were taken from the same spot a least a mile away from the Empire State and Chrysler buildings20200305_114755.jpeg20200305_114659.jpeg20200305_114740.jpeg20200305_114732.jpeg

Nice mike , see this something u can get with other phones , which I like .

Mike, using a tripod? They came out really nice!!
No tripod.....As long as you don't go beyond 30x you should be able to shoot handheld without too much difficulty. You can shoot higher zoom but it's a be more difficult.

Wow, those are impressive!!

I could not get the Best Buy demo unit to focus 40 feet away on a display rack, so I chose not to preorder an Ultra.

Probably was (a) operator error -or- (b) the fact that the demo unit was low on battery & kept shutting down.

Your shots are amazing.

And you need plenty of light (like you had) to keep the shutter speed up with no tripod at those zoom levels.

Nice pictures, BTW!

Shot totally in auto. Very low ISO so there is room to bump up the ISO and maintain a fast shutter speed in lower light

Not even a single review said that zoom is bad, its obviously great, it's the other 2 cameras that fail to impress

Sure they did....you must not have read them, but I didn't post pictures to disprove that point. As for the other two cameras I don't have any major issues that make me think twice about buying it.

I just noticed today that I don't have the motion thing on my regular pics where it records a little bit before and after the shutter closes.

With my kid, that feature has always helped me to adjust blurry shots with eyes closed to be usable photos.

Is this still an option on the Ultra camera?
