Alright so on Wednesday, my Verizon upgrade eligibility FINALLY expired after 2 years and I ordered a Note 3 on the VZW website. But right after I completed the order, I found out Best Buy had this promotion where upgrading a phone gifts you a $50 Best Buy gift card.

So I was like alright I'll just cancel my VZW order and purchase a Note 3 on the BestBuy website and pick one up at the store. Thing is, VZW doesn't have a 'cancel order' option for your purchases.

So I called VZW Customer service asking if they could cancel my Note 3 order. Please keep in mind this call was LEGIT 10 minutes after I ordered my Note 3. Then the lady said the payment processes immediately after an order is completed and that she could cancel the shipment request to stop it or just let the package be sent to me in a couple days and I could just bring the package to a VZW branch to get a full refund without the restocking fee.

The lady told me that the shipment request should take a couple of hours to process, so I chose that option. (keep in mind that she implied that the request would cancel the shipment right on the spot) So I waited a couple of hours until I received the notification in my e-mail. It was titled "Your order has been shipped. "Expected delivery date: 2/07" which was today.

Since the phone was shipped I thought the shipment request didn't go through, so I'd thought I might just receive the package in the mail so I can bring it back to a VZW store and get a refund.

2 Days later (Today) I check the tracking information and it says the package is in East Boston, which was just a couple of miles from my house, so I was like "okay it's definitely coming to my house." but then later the tracking info tells me the shipment will be cancelled and must be shipped back. So, basically it took FedEx 2 days to respond to an order cancellation; across 7 states (From TN) and is now being shipped all the way back to Austin, TX.

Online VZW orders put your line on upgrade hold. Then I called VZW telling them I have proof that the return shipment is taking place, so I asked them if they could take off the upgrade hold on my line but they didn't have to refund my payment until they received the phone back. Turns out, they couldn't. I can't just go to Best Buy and upgrade because the VZW website says that my upgrade date is 2/2016. So I have to wait until the return shipment gets processed in Austin, TX, which happens all the way on Wednesday, 2/12.

Basically, if I just didn't call the lady to cancel the order, this long wait would not have happened.

I know I seem to be impatient, but this wait feels awful because I have a phone (Thunderbolt) where even having two batteries doesn't last me a full college school day and is awfully unusable (horrible UI and app lag). And I always keep in touch with my highschool friends throughout the semester, and this phone is making it extremely difficult.

This is an FML story

Yeh quite often the way when you contact call centres bit like trying to get sense out of a politician lol.

Enjoy your phone when it arrives and take this as a learning curve lol
