Tech Crunch that is, such a poor excuse for a tech site.

Don’t Buy The HTC EVO, It Is A Seriously Flawed Device

Give that a read.

I keep constantly hearing about battery life, Makes me wonder what Im doing to get great battery life ?

On another note, I changed in the settings>Accounts&sync>Manage Accts- how often the news, weather, stocks & Flickr update I hope this saves some battery life too. Im getting 12 hrs easy with very moderate use.

no comment. What I do have to say will get me banned from this site! I will keep is clean and say this. ---> What a pc of sh!it that fuchk is!

Eh... Everyone is entitled to his opinion.

yeah - clearly a troll piece - however i think we're kidding ourselves if we don't admit that the battery is the weak link in the chain.

I've used my evo for 2 full days now - and the battery has yet to make it through a workday of light to moderate use. i have followed the 20-step battery guide but i still would not in anyway call this a battery-efficient device.

I also have a unit 1 one bad pixel.

Both of those negatives aside - this is the best phone i have ever used let alone owned... worst case scenario - i exchange the unit for the pixel problem and carry around a second battery for heavy-use days.

Crazy unbelieveable, a "seriously flawed device" because some people are having battery issues? Wow.

I know some are having bad battery life but I'm not. The battery life on my Palm Pre was worse.

That site obviously has no credibility.

I swear Apple must pay them or something, I mean come on.

I'll admit that the battery is a little weak but wit a task killer it helped me out a lot n I still think giz n that *** r haters, cause coming of a pre which I loved very much this ph battery is better n I LOVE THIS BEAST!!!!! F U C K THAT N I G G A

Not sure what everyone else is doing but I have had no problems with my battery and I am constantly pocking and prodding that thing all day long. I also leave GPS and WiFi on all the time. Just keep Bluetooth and 4G off. I customized the setup for my Exchange account to only pull during the day time and usually have it hooked up to our Wireless router all day as well.

So for me once they push an update that helps with some of the issues I think I'll be able to leave it off the charger and get a good 2 days out of the battery provided I'm not messing with it ever 5-10 minutes.

I'm really enjoying this phone and the Android Experience! Thanks HTC

For owners complaining about battery life, I have to wonder what phone they came from, and specifics about how much they use their phone, and which features. I have a Palm Pre in addition to my EVO, and I have to say that even with the much bigger screen and 4G, the Evo lasts longer than my Pre ever does, under the same usage patterns.

Seriously?

Well consider the author of the article. He's generally known to be pretty douchey.

Just ask Yahoo's CEO

And from the article:

"...this device routinely runs out of power while sitting on standby overnight next to my bed. "

If that's the case he has a bad battery or something else wrong. I just hit 23 hours and change with light use (few calls, several texts, some browsing and app updates/usage) with wi-fi and 4G enabled and no battery saving options enabled.

I won't get myself upset about another person's opinion about a phone. But battery life, while weak for heavy users (as is every other smartphone) is solvable with a $10 spare battery purchase on ebay, so I don't know why it's a big deal.

Consider this Evo owners...your battery life isn't as bad as Incredible owners or Eris owners. The one thing in common, HTC Sense. It is and always will be the culprit to battery drainage. Just gotta know that going in. I love HTC, the brand because they make great phones; and I love HTC Sense for being so intuiative. I don't own nor never have owned a HTC phone, however, if I did I wouldn't understand its battery life expectancy. Just try to take the appropriate steps to squeeze out as much battery life as possible or get an extended battery. Its unfortunate you have to (and notice my choice of word) but with technology evolving literally every day, comparing its battery life to even something that was released 6 months ago is unfair.

Overall its a great phone but like most HTC phones, the battery life isn't as great as you'd hope.

I don't get it. I used my phone the way I did mostly with my Pre.
Right now I'm at 41%!
Text, browsing, email, youtube, movie on the card, twitter.
Charged in the car to and from the movies and got a quick half hour charge before the movies.

I also have stuff syncing in the background. News and craigslist apps.

The battery is on par with my Motorola Q9c and doing much more.

This is what I'm sayin' coming from the Pre battery life is awesome. People that are having bad battery life what phone are you coming from?
