I don't care in the forums, in texts, in chat, in bar room conversation or in emails from friends. I do care in the articles I read because it shows a casualness in the approach to editing.

Think of Basic programing with if... then... else... statements. Toss "than" in the middle and Google it. Google searches for THEN. Apply the same substitution in an Excel spreadsheet and you'll find it doesn't work. Two different words.
