Things you can do with secure folder

I just found out yesterday that if you run a VPN inside a secure folder. Only connections inside the secure folder will pass through VPN. The connections outside secure folder will remain the same.

This is good news for me. As there are apps I don't need/want VPN. So I moved all the apps I need VPN like banking apps inside the secure folder.

So I'm gonna start using secure folder now. Any tips on its use?

You could put a copy of Chrome inside secure folder and store your bookmarks there. Just be careful not to log into Chrome with the same account you use elsewhere, or it'll sync your bookmarks.

Can you expand on this just a little? Do you mean if you have a VPN set up with the connection settings of the phone or the VPN's app (e.g. Private Internet Access's app)?

Do you turn it on when you run the app and that signals the phone to always run it when you use that app?

I'm not sure I fully understand. Asking is easier than going through a dozen trial and error steps.

This is the same. The phone has VPN settings. What the app do like Private Internet Access app is change that phone settings.

I'm using ExpressVPN and that app doesn't have that option. I believe other VPN have that like Hotspot.

If you run VPN outside the secure folder. All connections go through that VPN including apps inside the secure folder.

Now of you run VPN inside the secure folder, only the apps inside the secure folder uses that VPN. Connections outside secure folder uses normal connection.

That's what I expected but I have an additional surprise!

Some sites are blocked by my network provider in the general browser. Yet using the same type of Browser from the secure folder gives access to the sites !!

This suggests Secure Folder has a VPN included 'under the covers'; I cannot see what else would explain it.

I cannot find anything about this on-line. Not sure what to think of that ! Should I care how this works, eg which companies know what I can access ?
