I noticed in my keyboard settings the language was set at "English (Australia)." I think maybe I just wasn't paying close attention when I first set the phone up. No big deal right? Just switch to "English (US)."

Except now I have all these Australian holidays in my calendar and I don't see a way to get rid of em. I've been through the Google Calendar settings a bunch of times...

Found it! Just didn't drill deep enough in settings where you can manage which countries' holidays appear. I also went to Calendar on the Web to unsubscribe from the Australian holidays calendar just for good measure :)

I bet your original selection is more deeply rooted. I would factory reset.
