Think my phone was hacked

Hey so yesterday I began getting lots of weird calls and texts from numbers I don't know. There were contacts in my Skype account I've never spoken to as well. I have no idea how long this may have gone on for as I never use Skype and it's usually not even enabled. I've changed my number, encrypted my phone, and deleted the Skype account. Anything else I should do? Any advice would be great, I'm pretty nervous about the situation.

Check your email account, see if your contacts have received emails from you that you didn't send. Did you respond to or open any unusual emails or texts lately from unknown sources?
