Thinking about getting the OnePlus3T, thoughts?

I'm thinking about getting the OnePlus3T, as it just looks so dang good with the amazing specs, and quality overall. But before I do so I just want some real feedback from others who have the device and there take on the phone. Is it compatible with At&t? Is gaming with the phone smooth and not laggy? I've heard that it has a lot of issues, bugs and errors, so please clarify problems if any. Like have any of you been experiencing phone breaking issues like a fast battery drain, or poor call quality, cellular connection, wifi miss connection, etc.. Have any of you had to return the device? Just any problems. I would also appreciate some clarification on how the OnePlus3T is running on Android Nougat. Thank you.

I have had the one plus three since day one, and if I had the money, I would trade up to the 3t for the extra battery alone. That's how awesome this phone has treated me since. I love speed/fluidity, meaning no lags or hiccups in the software. This phone is it. Every phone has its bugs for some people.

My last 3 or 4 phones have never ever connected to my car's Bluetooth 100%. Same with this phone. But It's stuff like that that I just get used to. The last update before nougat, and so far nougat as well, has improved that connection. Other than that, running on at&t as well, no issues there.

Camera, not THE best out of the flock of newest phones. But we do use it over my girlfriend's iPhone 6s almost every time. It's a really GOOD camera IMO.

Screen is realy good. Again, not the best. But it's there.

Storage, good.

Ummmm... VR, meh. But you wouldn't be looking at this phone if that really mattered in the first place.

Software updates, so far so great. I've had many many updates & hotfixes up till now, which is good. Security updates have been slightly behind but no biggie to me. But one of the most important things about the updates, they have come bug free for me. All of them. Not everyone, but for me they have. And the ones that did have bugs for others, they were fixed quickly.

Value, AMAZING.

That was the long answer.

Short answer, just click the buy button already and enjoy :)

I'm glad that you have had a great experience with the OnePlus 3, I just want to make sure that there aren't any issues with the OnePlus3T. I feel you man, the phone looks so good and I don't even have it yet. But I've been reading about and hearing about lots of issues with the 3 and 3T, I just want more confirmation about these issues, then I will be sold.

You can read about problems with any phone though. I get it you want to make sure you won't run into issues for how YOU use the phone. No one can obviously guarantee that. Hopefully you buy what you want and it works out! It's a great phone. And even though I don't have a 3t, my phone puts confidence in me to think that the 3t is also great.

Edit: as far as battery drain goes, there are some inconsistencies between charges on a day to day basis. But with Android, that's another thing to kind of just expect mainly because of certain third party apps that go rogue. Or if Google services go rogue and you don't know it. I never knock that on a certain device. But I've never had an actually drainage issue on this phone.

Pretty much what he said.

Have the 3t and am blown away by the performance. I'm very finicky and picky when it comes to my mobile devices, so being on At&t I had to have the LTE symbol. Well I didn't have it and it was almost a deal breaker for me until the Nougat update. Now I have the LTE symbol and am a happy camper.

For my needs in a phone, I go for a single home/fingerprint sensor, battery life, bottom headphone jack and no virtual buttons on the screen. I came from a Note 5 and this 3t checked all the boxes for me. The side notification lever was a bonus that I absolutely love!

As far as bugs, the only bug that I'm having is with Nova Launcher. For some reason, whenever I update it or restart the phone, I have to go back into Tesla Unread and turn on all the notifications again?

If I could ask for one thing, it would be to have some sort of "always on" clock at night while sleeping? But I'm just splitting hairs now lol.....

Other than that, this phone is 100% the best phone I've ever used!

Thanks for the feedback, and just to clarify with Android Marshmellow you weren't getting LTE on AT&T, and after you updated it to Nougat it was fixed and you got it?

Yes correct. With MM I was getting 4G+. The speeds were still the same, I just didn't like having the 4G lol.

Once update to Nougat, I now have a LTE symbol there. Just little details like this that I really care about.

Ok now between the Google Pixel and this which one do you think I should get and why?
Hahaha. That's something only you can decide.

I came from a Note 5, and bought a LG V20 to hold me over until the 3t got here. I didn't think I'd like the LG as much as I do but I just can't bring myself to like the home button on the back or virtual keys on the screen? I have into the 12th to return the LG and I'm pretty sure it's going back.

With the Pixel I'd be in the same boat as I am with the V20.

I've never used a Pixel, but a couple of friends have them and really like them.

From what little I know, I'll take a 4G+ symbol over a straight LTE symbol any day! (4G+ indicates carrier aggregation which I believe is the same as LTE-A as compared to simply LTE)

That's a personal decision. For me, I ordered the OP3 the day the Pixel was announced and pricing was confirmed. While I was prepared to spend $1000 on a new phone, I simply didn't see the value in the Apple-esque Pixel.

I have not been disappointed in the OP3. In fact, the longer I have it, the more I've grown to appreciate it. See the thread about what makes the 3/3T so fast for a link to more info in that regard.

There is very little difference between the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. They are the exact same phone except for:
1. F2FS storage out of the box
2. 16MP front facing camera
3. 3400mAh battery
4. 64GB or 128GB storage options
5. 821 Qualcomm chip set

Other than the differences listed above they are the same phone. The same quality build, same positive upgrade experience (in my experience using the OnePlus One and OnePlus 3). So far I have not needed to do a factory reset after every upgrade.

I do not notice any lag on my OnePlus 3 with all animation turned off via the developer options and nova launcher prime set to faster than light animation. I am still on the EXT4 file system. I see comments from users that the OnePlus 3T has a great response time in regards to gaming.

The best feature of OnePlus phones, in my opinion, is the awesome developers making custom ROMs. I like how OnePlus understands the need for some Android users to unlock the bootloader and root their phone. Your OnePlus device will continue to get Android features via custom ROMs when there are no/not as frequent oneplus updates...

I like the camera, it does a good job in my opinion. The manual mode and ability to save raw image files are not common features. The screen looks great as far as I am concerned. I like the sRGB mode better than the alternative mode. VR is something I don't really care about and see it more as a gimmick at this point in time. As far as 2K and 4K screen resolutions go, everything I read indicates those screens kill battery very fast. I place a premium on battery life and would rather skip VR screen resolutions to have a still great screen and better battery life.

This is a good phone from a company that listens to its users and incorporates as much user feedback as possible in the context of creating good quality products that work well. Yes some users have software bugs and some units are not perfect either. That statement can be applied to all the other OEM phone companies out there.

In my experience (this is my second OnePlus phone) you can buy with confidence. Both of my OnePlus One and my OnePlus 3 are excellent phones.

Thank you for your detailed response. I think I am going to get the 3T. But, just a question, if I wanted to root does the OnePlus come with an unlocked bootloader, or would I have to do that myself?

You still have to unlock it yourself. Not sure of any phone that comes loaded with the bootloader unlocked.

As others have said that's a persona decision. But, if the reviews are anything to go by, then if you want a great camera with really steady video, and want guaranteed Android updates, Pixel is your bet. If you care about budget and want a good phone but don't care that much about updates and don't need a great camera - good is good enough - then the OP 3T is a better choice.

What attracts me so much to the OnePlus3T is the performance, speed and specs. They are top of the line honestly on any Android phone, but whats conflicting is the 1440p display on the Google Pixel XL, as well as stock Android and a great camera. But the OnePlus3T still puts up a good fight in all of those categories and is not bad at all. The Pixel is also overpriced I mean 800 bucks pretty much for the XL, when the OnePlus3T is faster and has better performance at half the price...

It's sad that this is considered as a Midrange phone. Why because of the price, that it's only 1080P display?

I finally got my 3t, while I can't tell the difference LOL this is my 4th OnePlus 3 I bought for 2016.

IMO it's the best phone released in 2016. I only sell it because on my condition...addiction. LOL
