I would like to use the Tab Plus as my primary phone. Has any one tried the phone functions out yet? I have pre ordered one from amazon. Just wondering if any one had experimented with it yet.

The US version of the Tab plus doesn't come with the phone option.
You will need to get the 3G version from Europe. I have used the OG Tab with BT headset and had no problems at all.

I heard the T-mobile version does. I have checking the t-mobile store and online to see if it does conflicting info. I guess I will have to wait until 11/16

I don't think the T-Mobile version can do GSM voice calls as it was disabled the previous model.
Do you have a link to information stating otherwise?

While the T-Mobile version can text, the google search app won't recognize the voice command to send a text. You can send a text manually, but not with a voice command, because the app tells you that the device is not capable of that function. This is really odd, because the original 7" GT did work with the voice command, and in my case, they were on the same phone#. I think its a honeycomb thing.

If you just want to make free phone calls using Wi-Fi, you might check out the GrooVe IP app. I don't have my Galaxy Tab 7 Plus yet, so I don't know if the app works on that device. In addition to saving $100 a month or more on your cell phone bill, you won't ever be accused of talking on the phone while driving! :-$

i got my tab last week from a place in chicago that deals with overseas importing and i have phone functions out of the box. But ATT is on my ass about using a tablet for a phone. Now that i have i am going to sell my Flyer which has phone functions.

phone features out of the box, but the biggest "Phone" comany in the world, says its not a phone.

preterbs me.

I have p-6200 from malaysia. best device in the world right now for me ( GTab7.7 is close)
I keep as far away from AT&T as possible.
if you have unlimited plan you should be ok. pop sim into some generic phone have them change your data from a non-iphone plan and you should be all set.

If you dont have an unlimited plan, you may be screwed and either have to pay a bunch for what 3GB??

I have read a few post where At&T reps loved this device and went out of their way to fake an IMEI.

I tested mine with Skype. Install OK and can make a call but the microphone does NOT WORK. Caller cannot hear me at all.

HTC Thunderbolt 4G LTE
Samsung Galaxy Tab 7+ WiFi (P6210)

Funny thing happened today i got a text from att saying I had met my limit for pay per use data. It seems that there system now recognizes my tab as a phone. Att told me today that I have to have a data plan. Is this precursor to the galaxy tab 2 maybe coming to att? The best thing is that there system does not see it as a tablet or smartphone.

GrooveIP works very well on the tablet. I text using google voice and make calls with the tab. Also google voice syncs my texts between my phone and the galaxy tab. GrooveIP uses the front speaker on the tab so can hold the tab up to your ear if you want to.
