hey all first time poster on android forums and had a question.

i have a blackberry 9700 and looking to get a note now i was wondering how the email works. does the note do push email also i have 3 accounts (1 yahoo.ca and 2 hotmail.com's) how easy is it to set them up so that i have all 3 and that the emails come right away?

Can not comment on Hotmail but Yahoo just requires entering your email address and password. No push on yahoo, I have mine check every 15min.

Gmail and Exchange are push.

Which note you looking at?

I have the N7000 (international). I like it but it is a little too big. Maybe the GalaxyIII would be a better size. On my note, I miss the LED alert for notifications, there is no LED. No Tmobile 3G/4G for the N7000 and it looks like it is not going to happen either. Chip set specs say it can do it but so far no working firmware found. On ATT I have seen download speeds of over 8Mbps and I usually get around 4Mbps so I am happy. LTE is not in my area anyway. I can not comment on call quality since I only have a data sim in mine and I use Skype for incoming and out going calls and I have been happy with that. Not a big phone call person, when I get on the phone I can not get off fast enough. Skype on GB has an issue of starting a call on speaker phone and you have to toggle it to the ear piece. On ICS roms Skype works great. Stay away from Roms built on leaked ICS, there have been many hard bricks with it, I did not have an issue with it. I am currently running a CyanogenMod9 Alpha release and it is pretty dang good.

ohh ok. thanks for the info. im in canada so it would be with rogers lte version (same as at&t i guess) sucks that there is no push on yahoo or hotmail. the led alert doesnt really bother me. as long as i can get it to vibrate wen the emails come in i'll be ok

Hotmail does push now, as a matter of fact it has been for some time. Just set up the device for a new exchange account.

Settings>accounts and sync>add new account. When the list of accounts comes up, choose the exchange activesync and it will ask you for your account login information.

Make sure the secure connection box is checked. After you enter your login info, tap next, not manual setup.

The next screen looks similar to the first, but you will see a domain entry space with something like "/hotmail" or "/your username". Change it to your login name (yourname@hotmail, live or whatever). The password line will remain, as it is what you entered on the first screen.

A little lower, there is a server line that says "hotmail.com". Change it to read "m.hotmail.com" minus the quotes. Try to login now.

If everything works out right, you should now see a screen where you can change the time interval of sync. Push should be chosen by default. You can also alter the amount of calendar to sync, as well as some other options. If you are done, tap finish or done and it should be setup.

I just tried this on my at&t Galaxy Note Before i typed this reply and it worked.

Should be similar or same for the international version.

I am on Orange in the UK (first time poster here too).
This Samsung Note replaces an HTC Desire. I wanted more storage and a bigger screen. It delivers on both counts. I also put in a 32GB micro SD.
I have gmail and Hotmail, using a different app for each, they were easy to set up and as far as I can tell, both are push.
Call quality is very good, clear and no dropping, and I live in a rural, poor signal area. It is also very quick at picking up signals.
The screen is excellent, and being larger suits my older eyes! I use maps a lot (ViewRanger) for which the screen is perfect. I write using Swype, which works very well on larger screen.
No ICS yet on Orange, despite rumours that it has arrived in Europe. My wife hasn't got it yet either on her HTC Sensation.
In the 2 months I have been using the Note I have been very pleased and no regrets or problems.
Good luck.

Definately a big change for me too! I bought the note 5 days ago.Im new to android and still use my iphone but as soon as i understand how it works the whole ecosystem the iphone goes for selling:-) The screen is superb. The size makes me feel strange but im sure in time will feel better:) So its worth to buy it:) Just my thoughts.

Having been an iPhone user for a long time and going through all models of it, I initially played with the Motorola Razr which gave me a taste of the Android OS and a device with a screen bigger than iP4S. I just got the Note a few days ago and this is definitely replacing my iP4S.

Went to AT&T yesterday to check out the note. I'm not sure I want to jump ship for it though. The rep. said There's a $200.00 deductable if broken.... Eek!!! Sprint is only $100.00 it'd I broke it.:D
