YouTube - HTC EVO Unrevoked Root

Is rooting the Evo with Unrevoked as easy as the video explains and does it unlock the free wireless tethering? Im tired of paying the extra 30 bucks. Please advise, im a noob.

I rooted using Unrevoked yesterday.

I would recommend following this write up...it's rather painless.

Also, I believe the guy in the video is wrong. To my knowledge you should be able to flash a new rom using Unrevoked...but I could be wrong.

Unrevoked3 works very well, or you can use a more manual method. Check out the ROMs/Hacks section for more info - there's a ton.
