Ok so im gonna go on a rant here and if you would like to know whats going on in my head please feel free to read on.

So I am a loyal BlackBerry user I have owned 5 devices within 3 years, Pearl 8100, Curve 8320-8900 and Bold 9000-9700. Now dont get me wrong I love Blackberry Devices from the keyboard, battery, bbm. I would have to say Blackberry is the best all around communication device but as you all know BlackBerry OS is getting boring and not a whole lot of FUN APPS or COOL APPS.

I did own a T-Mobile G1 for about 4 months and I must say I hated it not because of the OS but because of the apps comapred to the Iphone. It was slow at doing everything and it was a huge phone when put into my pocket. It had atrocious battery life and could never get me through the day unless I kept it on a charger at all times when available. I would text and it would lag so bad it would catch up with me after a period of time. My point is was that I hated the G1 and was so happy to get rid of it on craiglist and go down to T-mobile and get my Blackberry 9700 on launch day for $500 and I must say the BlackBerry 9700 is an amazing device for what it is.

But i am growing weary of my 9700 and BlackBerry in general. I want a fun experience with my phone.

I had introduced the Blackberry to my mom and brother and they both loved it and got a 8330 curve. But last year my brother got his first iphone 3gs and never looked back. Now my mom just switched to the iphone for her first time with the iphone 4 and i just talked to her today about it and she says she loves the phone and is not going to miss the blackberry.

I know for a fact i want an I-Phone or Android. Should I wait and see what motorola will bring out by christmas time hopefully similar style as the original droid with a physical keyboard or should i just go for the iphone 4 now? I also really like apples app store as there is really an app for anything but as when I had the G1 the app store didnt do a thing for me kinda like my blackberry.

Feedback guys :D

if you want an Idont then go get one don't wait. new android phone are going to come in regular fashion not every year like others

If you want an iPhone then do it. If you want a device that really works and is customizable, then go with an Android device. I’m not sure which carrier you’re on, but Verizon has lots of Great phones. I use a Droid Incredible, and I’ve never been happier with a device. If you are on AT&T or another network, you will find that they too have many new Andriod devices as well.

Bottom line, get the phone that does what you want it to do. Don’t worry about what your family or others are doing.

PS: Don’t sweat the physical KBD, The Droid X and Droid Incredible have great keyboards. I thought I’d miss the hard keyboard coming from a Treo, but I don’t. The DInc is a great device, needs a bigger battery, but those are readily available. Other than that, this is the best mobile device I have ever used or owned.

I'm about to give you some advice that probably won't be popular, but here goes:

Don't listen to anything these guys or myself tell you about which specific phone to choose. Don't listen to what anyone else says.

Go to an AT&T or Apple store and play with an iPhone 4 and AT&T's android offerings. Then go to a Verizon store and play with a Droid Incredible or X. Maybe even go to Sprint and play with the Evo.

Choose what you like and think will fit you best. Every person here has their own bias and likes/dislikes. Only YOU know what YOU want, so our opinion is damn near meaningless.

I agree with Droid800 for the most part, but I'll give you my recent experience if it matters at all to you. I've had 3 generations of iPhones. I had the original 8gb with the aluminum case, the 3G-S, and then I picked up the iPhone 4. I had loved my iPhones up till then. I pre-ordered it, and happily picked it up from Best Buy on release day thinking I would love it just as much as my 3G-S... wrong. The iPod features of the iPhone 4 are phenomenal. It's got a great speaker for music and such, the apps are great as always, the screen is beautiful. For the first week I loved it. Then... I had to actually make calls on it.

I had less than a handful of calls drop on me with my previous iPhones, thats just AT&T for you... but I had a lot of call problems with the iPhone 4. I don't care about holding it and watching to signal drop... I care if I can stay on the freaking phone. 5 times in 2 days I had it drop a call on me and tell me my SIM card wasn't installed... I had never done anything to the phone other than use it normally. So I promptly returned it to Best Buy the day I heard about the Samsung Captivate coming out this month on AT&T. Picked up an HTC Aria in the meantime to get use to Android. I love the change, there are quite a few things that I love about Android over iOS. There are also some things I miss. The key thing for me, however... is that it's a PHONE. I haven't had a dropped call yet and the call quality is great on the little Aria. Also, my Bluetooth headset that always worked awesome worked like crap on my iPhone 4... it would sound horrible if the phone was in my pocket, at that rate whats the point. It works great so far on my Aria.

While all this might sound like I'm just spewing, I just wanted to lay out my experiences for you. Take them for what they are worth, as they are simply my personal experiences... I'm sure there are many others who love the phone.

Sounds like you had a just plain defective iPhone 4, especially with the sim card error.

Yeah, you're probably right. I'd be far from the only one like this, however. Also, I got rid of my 3G-S when I bought the iPhone 4. So one of 2 things would have to have happened to remedy the situation:
1) Bring my iPhone 4 back and get it replaced. Fat chance, try and find one. They still haven't filled all their pre-orders from the first day.
2) Bring it back and get a phone that actually works. I chose this option, obviously. ;)
