Even before the LTE network released Verizon hasn't been providing bleeding edge tech.
Eh, I'm fine with my Thunderbolt. Having the ability to download at 20mbps is good enough for me and will hold me over for a good couple of years. And yeah, I've hit 20mbps on my Thunderbolt a couple of times. Bay Area, CA 4G LTE baby!!!! I think that's bleeding edge enough. ;-)
Well that just shows that they must be doing something right then if they aren't providing "bleeding edge" technical phones yet they are the largest carrier in the country. It may sound cliche, but the network truly does make a difference.
Also, Verizon is in a totally different position right now. They have a HUGE jump on the competition when it comes to technology on the important side of the equation (meaning the network). Verizon will probably be just about done with their LTE network by the end of next year.
Keep in mind, the phone manufacturers can come to Verizon at anytime and pitch a phone idea to them. So it's not strictly the fault of Verizon.
I'd say, based on the definition of bleeding edge tech, I'm glad they don't...
"Bleeding edge technology refers to technology thats so new that it could have a high risk of being unreliable and may incur greater expense in order to use it."
I'm quite happy with my T-bolt and with Verizon, tyvm.
Shoot, 20Mbps is normal in St. Louis. If I get under 20Mbps, I'm disappointed. I've hit 44Mbps or higher 4 times.
Yeah, I've heard about St. Louis metro area LTE being incredibly stupid fast. Something about the Bay Area though where bandwidth here is slower than some other areas. Still, I average around 8-11mbps on a slow day and that's still better than AT&T or T-Mob on HSUP+. And Sprint's WiMax is about 4-6mbps down up here also. Yeah, VZW's network is just plain ridiculous and only going to get better once the infrastructure is set up completely. It's still evolving...
So far from what I've seen the two newest and bleeding edged phones of android Galaxy S2 and Sensation have been well recieved. With no mention of any errors or bad build qualities.

The LTE's speed is amazing statement is flawed its only as fast as it is because its not as populated as HSPA+ or Wimax. Becuase its a brand new technology. The LTE network shouldn't be compared to the others until it is as populated as the others.
(And before you start flaming. I'm not biast to any manufacterer or Carrier. I post on Verizon, AT&T ,T-Mobile, And Sprint related threads and all manufactueres as well. In fact most of my posts on this website are in the Thunderbolt section. I want to become a technology journalist, so I have a blind eye to everything except specs and trends in technology.)
There's always going to be a small percentage of bad devices to any product lines when it comes to high volume production. I'd have to see the numbers of returns for the SGS2 and the Sensation but I would expect the same percentages or roughly around the same defect rates as some other devices these two companies put out.
Did I just get accused of future flaming?

Then they're not really bleeding edge tech. And I dont believe that any production hardware would fall into that category, the risk outweighs any competitive edge possibly gained. Although my DX did have its moments in the beginning...![]()
