While the seemingly random status updates of your orders are disconcerting, it's not a big deal. Sprint doesn't normally deal with pre-orders so their automated system is freaking out a bit.
But here's how it probably works. They pick a launch date, and that date is when a customer can walk into one of their stores and walk out with the new phone. However, those phones have to be shipped from Sprint to the stores in time to be sure they are ready for launch date.
Your pre-orders will be part of this massive, store-wide launch day shipment except that the individual pre-orders will go directly to your doorstep instead of to a Sprint store. So everyone should receive theirs at least one day before launch, and if you happen to live close enough to a shipment site, as early as three days before launch.
Not having a confirmed ship date is annoying; but you will get the perk of having the phone at least a day before it goes retail.
