Here is an email I got from HTC earlier this week.
Dear JOSHUA,
Thank you for taking the time to contact us here at HTC Joshua. We are sorry to hear about the
issue with the Weather Widget and Blockbuster on your HTC Thunderbolt from Verizon.
Well Joshua, we have good news for you, at least we think it is good news. Here is the official information we have just received regarding Gingerbread for this device :
"We are excited to announce that the HTC Thunderbolt will receive the Gingerbread (Android 2.3)
update in Q3 2011. Stay tuned for details as we get closer to the update availability.
"Our goal is to give every customer the best possible experience on every phone. Every HTC phone is a combination of a unique HTC hardware and software experience and a core operating system. We only update our phones if it will provide an overall improved user experience as we balance features, performance and usability. Because of this, we will only update the phones to Gingerbread when we have completed thorough testing for reliability and hardware compatibility."
As such the Gingerbread release for the Thunderbolt is slated for Q3 of this year. Once we have more information on specific timelines, it will immediately be posted to our social network feeds on Twitter and Facebook, as well as on htc.com/us.
This updated ROM should address the issues you are experiencing with the Market and Blockbuster apps.
With regards to the weather widget, we have some suggestions for you. Remember that "searching" your location will often not find where you are at as there are only a certain number of preset cities in the app. The remainder of the locations get retrieved using the GPS and weather database from AcuWeather.
Due to the lengthy instructions for troubleshooting the weather widget Joshua, we will send them in a second message for you. Keep an eye out for a second response after this one.
End of part 1. part 2 to follow.
To send a reply to this message or let me know I have successfully answered your question log in to our ContactUs site using your email address and your ticket number 11USCW32ENA002469.
Sincerely,
Jamie
