Thoughts on the phone?

Went to the VZW store to look at both the V10 and the Note 5...both are nice devices, but the fact that the Note 5 doesn't have the SD card slot and removable battery pushes me to the V10... Liked the feel of the V10... The upgrade is coming this week for me!

The SD card and removable battery are non issues to 99% of us anymore. I never removed my battery when I had the Note 4 and I never used more that 32gb, not even close. I think we need to come into the 21st century on that.

Come into the 21st century? Oh you mean that our data needs are higher than they have ever been?

Just because YOU never removed your battery doesn't mean there isn't a need for it for a lot of people.

Not everyone wants to be forced into no SD card and no removable battery the way Apple and Samsung seem to think.

LG differentiated themselves from the big boys and even though they make good phones, having SD card slot and removable battery is mostly what made them successful.

So, I did the move to the V10... I have to say I really like the device.... Fingerprint scanner works flawlessly with an Otterbox Defender case, phone quality is nice, fit & finish is nice on the phone, device runs smooth... No problems so far... Glad I made the move!... Even the VZW rep who took care of me thought it is an underrated device!

How is the signal strength?

Signal strength has been fine for me. And I live in a VERY spotty Verizon coverage area location. Every other year my local city has ballot measures to erect 1-2 more cell towers, and the local residents (except me) ALWAYS vote it down. My daughters elementary school is a completely dead spot. and I get the dreaded 1x.

As I type this, I have been dialed into conference call meetings all morning with 3G and barely 1/5 bars. Audio and call quality has been spot on.. This phone gets an A+ for its ability to come through and deliver calls on a weak signal. I can pretty much forget about cellular data speeds though, but thats not the fault of the V10.

If that's the 21st century, then I'll stay behind in the 20th.

I've owned both the note 5 and 6s plus and now I am back to the note 5 as the LG v10 was nor as fast and had its issues. V10 wasn't even close to the note 5 in how well it worked.

In your opinion.

Its not about what you "need"... its about having a choice. Having the CHOICE how to manage your power, and your data.

It amazes me how the cell phone industry has completely robbed consumers of their freedom of choice... and you all LOVE IT!!

You know they have the same thought on cars? Some car manufactures did away with the donut tire? Instead they give them a can of fixaflat.. Tells them it saves space, and you never use that these days. Really it's to make the car lighter. Well long story short, they have a blow out and they are stranded.. Car has to be towed because there is no spare.
Spare tires are so last century..
SD cards and removable battery are so last century.. Until you really need then. Just because u do not utilize them. Doesn't mean when I travel internationally, or cross country that I do not wat to have 3 or 4 SD cards full of movies or my spare batteries for those moments when I cannot wall hug for a hour to top up.

Exactly. Personally I don't care either way. I prefer the option to have them though because the convenience is what is special for me but off not I will be fine.

I definitely see how for many people those are necessities. I personally got the g4 and now the v10 just for those reasons among others.

I like the phone, still doesn't match the versatility of my Note Edge. I kept it for over a year. But it is real good...

I have a Note Edge and I am looking at the V10, mainly because the camera app on the Note Edge can't take more than three photos without crashing. I like that the V10 has a secondary screen similar to the Edge. I also appreciate the removable battery and storage. I REALLY like the textured and metal edges. My only reservation is I am not very familiar with LG as a company.

How would you compare the camera on the V10 to the Note Edge?

Camera is about the only thing good with the LG V10. Other than battery can be swapped and memory card. Performance and support with apps on the touch ID it isn't near as good. I would recommend doing a reset of your phone back to factory and try again. The built in app should not crash like that.

I wouldn't give up on the Edge, I broke mine and bought the V10, because the V10 came as close to the Edge in features than any other phone. I have no problems with Touch ID, but AT&T sent the update about the same time I got it. The camera is great, but I didn't really want to learn manual mode to make a perfect picture. The Edges app works better for Point-n-shoot situations. So I use a second app for my point-n-shoot. Bummer the Dev stopped supporting it. Maybe he charged too much and it turned people off, but I like it. I would try a factory reset, heck boot to the bootloader and do a total clean reset. I liked the camera app on the Edge.

I had the same issue with the Note Edge. It drive me nuts when I was trying to snap off pics.

The V10 I'd a solid phone though. If you're looking for similar features and size this is the way to go. Plus it's the best camera I have ever used. Love the stock camera options.
