Throwing in the towel

That sucks....very frustrating. Glad you finally got something you are reasonably happy with.

Did you try going through Motorola again, letting them know Verizon was being unreasonable? They may have been more willing to help and send you a new device since it seemed to be hardware issues somewhat.

I was worried about the earpiece call volume based on posts before I got my Turbo. But I found that while the speaker is in a poor location if you hold the phone so that the end is at your ear level and remember which speaker is used for voice calls the volume is fine. It took me a couple of calls to get used to holding the phone that way, but now it is fine.

With that said, I understand why they put the speaker on the end of the phone (minimize phone height), but wish they could have come up with a better placement.

" If I had time, I would pursue a refund, and may still do so."

Make ... the 'call'. I had to bail out of the Edge contract early with my Nokia ICON Windows phone (due to endless 'sudden battery drain issues") and upgrade to the HTC One (M8) Windows Phone - which I still have a the moment. This cost me $91 to do, because ICON would not be 1/2 paid off until March 2015.
However ... after the dust settled ... I called VZN and literally pleaded with them to 'reduce' the $91 hit to something lower ... and they DID ... cut it in 1/2 !
So ... make the 'call' :-)
(same goes if you might have a late charge on a credit card payment ... !)

Now ... why am I writing in the Turbo forum ?? Well, after just returning yesterday from CES 2015, as MUCH as I like the Windows Phone platform ... I've come to the conclusion that ... there are too many companies that are producing home automation / connected home produces (my focus at CES) that seem to be ... 'resisting' developing a Windows Phone app for their product(s), one of several examples being the Lowes Iris product line. App is only for IOS and Android ... no plans for WinPhone.

SO ... even though I am a Microsoft MVP ... I'm dumping the WinPhone platform and moving to Android ... and the Turbo seems like a good candidate. EXCEPT ... of all damn things ... and seemingly one of the biggest complaints (especially in the VZN forum for the Turbo ... is the ... VOLUME. And since my hearing is 65db down at 2KHz ... this is a BIG concern. However, the one I tested at the VZN Corp store last night did not seem to have the issue. Consequently, will probably pull the plug on the HTC tonight or in the am.

Thanks for the advice. I will take you up on it. Good luck with android. I tested windows phones for my last company and thought they performed well. I am also connected to the building automation space. I suspect the new batch of handsets do not exhibit the volume problems of the initial batch.

As Android fans we are so fortunate to have such a wide variety of devices to choose from. Don't like the experience on what you're currently using? Try this one instead. You gotta love it. :)
