Hello everyone for some reason my Thunderbolt frequently has been freezing and then giving me an error message which reads, "Activity Messages (in process com.android.mms) is not responding." Any idea why this is happening and what can be done to resolve the frequent issue?

no clue mine just keeps telling me to plug into charge all day sorry i couldnt help it

try restore to factory you will loose everything fyi

are you running a app killer?

Someone may be able to correct me here but I believe that's the Messages app? Try going into settings -> applications -> manage applications -> Messages and either force closing or clearing the cache.

Mine is also doing this occasionally. I feel it has something to do with it not sending my messages half the time.

I had close to 1,000 messages in one thread, and after clearing the thread, the problem stopped. I hope this will help other people with similar issues.

HTC Thunderbolt would freeze while reading/and or replying to sms & mms.

I deleted the thread that was being fed from one social media source and it cleared the cache and it worked!!

Like I said previously, I think the issue deals with the large amount of messages in your inbox, especially in one thread. In my case, it was a thread with around 1,000 messages.

roadkill87.. you are absolutely correct... thank you for your information.. it has really helped!

Are you kidding me?

Are you fricking kidding me???

My old piece of garbage phones let me keep my text messages. My wife's iPhone lets her keep her text messages. But this best of the best of the best Thunderbolt can't handle it?

What a disappointment!

If it makes you feel slightly better, I haven't had the deleted messages issue at all since I cleared old texts and cleared the cache.

Problem solved

I went into Verizon and asked the tech. He did two thngs.
1. He removed the Advanced Task killer. He said the phone comes with a built in task killer and this one causes problems.

2. He installed Handcent. Handcent is a free app for texting. It was crazy how fast my phone is now. And I like the UI better too.

I don't understand why Droid doesn't just use a good app like this one for texting.

Sheesh!
