Thunderbolt to PC connection issue!

Hello All,

I am almost positive this is different than what I ever read about. I am having a problem when plugging my Thunderbolt to my laptop. I have everything installed (drivers etc etc) that I need. It has always worked before by popping up auto play and I can select my SD Card from the phone. I have it set to auto come up as disk drive on the phone when connected to the computer. My issue is the phone won't give me the option to put it in anywhere but charge only. I can select disk drive etc etc but the phone will only charge nothing else. I have done a factory reset, restarted phone several times. I have gone as far as re formatting my laptop. The computer will not even recognize the device to install drivers at all. Other devices work. I am stumped. Thanks for your help.

under settings > connect to pc, do you have the "ask me" box checked?

What rom are you using currently? Try what dpham00 said first, if that does not work go into recovery > Mount System > Mound SDcard > enable USB see if that makes your computer recognize it.

To answer dpham00's post. Yes I do have it checked to ask me. I don't even see anything come up in the drop down menu. Also to the second reply I am currently running the stock gingerbread rom from Verizon. I still cant get it to work.

Well, since another cable didn't fix it, and you say that you have the same behavior even with different ROMS, to include factory resets and data wipes, it seems to me that the only thing left is the hardware USB connector in the phone. I dunno... You might want to talk to VZW CS. They'd prolly send you a replacement right away.

Oh... make sure you try it on another computer if you haven't already. You never know... This now sounds like a USB connector (either end) or a PC problem with the USB buss. Anywhere there might be a bad USB pin contact.

I had the same problem after the GB update. I had to uninstall the HTC sync software and install the new version that is available on the HTC site:

Me too. Although, it never caused disappearing menus like the OP has.
