Time to go buy an iPhone, Android is dead

Meanwhile at the US Patent office...their meaningful work continues unabated.

I still don't get how these patents are approved. My sidekick had the same functionality. WinCE had it too, if you want to go touchscreen, my Voyager and EnV touch both had it as well. How are they getting these patents through?

See attached photo from post #2 :)

This is by far the stupidest thing I've ever seen. It's....it's just ridiculous! But I'm not worried because I know Google will bring the fight back to crapple.

now it is an uphill battle. If you get the patent first, you have to do a lot more legwork to get it overturned

How do car companies not dissolve into patent wars? I mean, sure, they have to protect their brand but as far as functionality goes, they all have the same stuff.

I just don't get it.

Car companies had their wars probably before any of us were born. I think desktop/laptops would be closer to the argument. How does say Acer not get sued back to the stone age by IBM or Compaq

Wait thast patent looks .... hmmm... yeah i remember a patent kinda like this one... but HP owns it now.

Remember that apple (does not deserve capital A) sued Microsoft back in the first days of Windows. apple claimed that all sorts of stuff about the windows GUI were stolen by Microsoft. crapple even sued over the garbage can, claiming they had a copyright to it. This was all back in the late 1980's, if I remember correctly and the magazines and pundits had loads of fun making fun of apple for it.

Most of apple's complaints got thrown out of court, except for the one count: the garbage can. Imagine the jokes about that. That is why Windows has had a "Recycle Bin" clearly styled to look nothing like a garbage can.

As you know, and is history that despite crapple's attempts to crush the competition in court, they got booted out mostly, and the competition rolled on with the development of the "infringing" operating system which now (like it or not) rules the desktop. In other words, all of apple's suing did nothing to stop progress back then. We can only hope it all winds up the same this time and crapple and CEO tim crook wind up making a laughing stock of themselves.

This is true but right now they are winning the patent wars with Android. What needs to happen is google stepping up and knocking the crap out of them instead of letting the OEMs do it. Apple doesnt want to really tread there, hence Moto not getting sued recently
