time without signal.

How come I reboot my phone and check "time without signal" and right away it says 17% and then starts to go down from there. I have 3-4 bars and never drops out. Is it just displaying it wrong? I called Sprint for another problem and was at 17% and after a 30 minute call it was down to 4%. Should I just let it go or is this a concern?

I think and correct me if I am wrong but I think when you turn it on the OS starts first and it takes a few seconds to connect to the network so that is what I am seeing.

I just checked now and starting at 12% after 15 minutes I am down to 1%. That has to be what is going on. The phone starts before connected to the network.

That would make sense. It has to establish a handshake with the cellular network. It shouldn't take too long, but since the value is a percentage it makes sense.
